Studio Policy

Calendar: Lessons will begin in August of every year through May. Summer lessons will be scheduled as desired and be flexible to accommodate vacations.  The following holidays are scheduled (lessons are not cancelled early release days and teacher work days):

  •     Labor Day
  •     Thanksgiving
  •     Christmas Vacation
  •     Spring Break
  •     Memorial Day

Tuition:  Tuition fees for the month are due by the first lesson of each month.  Lessons are offered in 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour.  For current rates, please contact us. Statements are mailed monthly.   24 hr. notice prior to a missed lesson is required for there to be make-up lessons or credits.

Books: All music books/supplies will be purchased by the teacher and billed to each student accordingly.  A book-bag is recommended.

Performances: Participation in musical activities of any nature is highly encouraged.  It is suggested that the teacher be informed prior to any upcoming performance: i.e., talent show, PTA, Church, etc.  Students are also encouraged and expected to take advantage of studio activities including the Christmas concert in December and the Annual Student Recital at the end of the school year.  Competitive or festival events, like the FFMC Festival, National Guild Auditions and TCMTA Music Thon, will be available to students desiring to participate.

Practicing for Piano: A well-tuned piano, a bench or chair of appropriate height and a quiet room are necessary for good practice.  Consistent daily practice is essential to the student’s growth; therefore, the teacher requires each student to designate a daily practice schedule.  To help develop self-discipline and good work habits, a regular time for practice should be set aside each day.

Notebook: The subject of how to practice is an integral part of every piano lesson.  Each student will receive a practice folder with weekly practice sheets detailing the week’s assignments.  The lesson assignment folder should be brought to every lesson and consulted during the student’s daily practice for technical study, theory, repertoire, etc.

Termination: If a student comes to the lesson frequently unprepared, continuation of lessons will be reevaluated.  Repeated absences for non-valid reasons and lessons missed with no advance notice may result in termination.

Parents, please support the fulfilling of the student’s responsibilities and encourage progress.  You are invited and welcomed to attend any lesson with no advance notice.
